Position Purpose

The Department of Educational Leadership and Human Development at the University of Central Missouri is pleased to invite applications for an assistant professor position in the Counselor Education Program. The position will begin August 2018.

Responsibilities: Teaching graduate courses in the Counselor Education Program in both Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit, providing clinical supervision and academic advising; participating in broad-based university, college, departmental, and program committee work and professional service; and conducting research and scholarly activity.

An earned doctoral degree in counselor education and supervision, from a CACREP-accredited program (by date of appointment).

Required Qualifications:
Evidence of successful teaching and communication skills in Counselor Education.
Experience providing supervision to master’s level counselors-in-training.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a professional counselor in Missouri within one year of hire or school counseling certification or eligibility for school counseling certification in Missouri within one year of hire.
Interest in providing leadership with professional counseling associations; and identified research agenda and interest in working with research teams.

Preferred qualifications:
Experience with CACREP standards and familiarity with the accreditation process; ability to contribute to relationships among faculty, staff, and students in the professional environment; experience in hybrid and/or online instruction and course development; demonstrated ability to actively collaborate and communicate with colleagues, local stakeholders, and within the counseling profession; demonstrated interest in working with diverse populations and social justice advocacy issues; knowledge of Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program; demonstrated experience and commitment to evidence-based school and clinical counseling practices; and registered play therapist or registered play therapist-supervisor.
