Position Purpose

Operates, maintains, and repairs all boilers and heating systems for the university. Responsible for trouble shooting solid state, pneumatic and electronic controls. Repairs pumps, valves, controls, blowers, and tanks. Repairs primary and secondary heating and electronic controls to fully optimize the combustion of fuel used in the boiler systems. Performs preventive maintenance as assigned.

Education & Formal Training High school diploma or equivalent
Other Education & Formal Training

Completion of related trade school or related military experience my substitute for experience on a 1 year for 1 year basis.

Computer Skills

Four (4) years experience in a commercial or industrial setting in the repair or maintenance of boilers and support equipment as a seasoned trades person.

Ability to lay out a project form a set of plans, estimate, plan and order supplies, receive and install equipment/project according to specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and sketches
Working knowledge of the principles and procedures of boilers (watertube, firetube)
Mechanical and electrical ability
Working knowledge of plumbing, steam, water supply, and return systems, and heating systems.
Extensive trouble shooting skills
