Position Purpose

Performs general and specialized work in the installation, adjusting, maintaining, and servicing of all heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems and support equipment. Troubleshoots system problems using a variety of methods. Maintain systems such as absorption, reciprocating, centrifugal, heat pumps, and packaging systems. Maintains pipes, fittings, valve assemblies, coils, pumps, and motors. Rebuilds equipment to close tolerance (1.1000 of an inch). Repairs and maintains pneumatic, electrical, and electronic controls. Replaces motor pumps, couplings, pipes, and fittings, valves, and control systems. Assembles, installs, repairs, operates and rebuilds commercial and domestic refrigeration systems.

Education & Formal Training High school diploma or equivalent
Other Education & Formal Training

Related trade school or military experience may substitute for experience on a 1 year for 1 year basis.

Computer Skills

Four (4) years experience in HVAC/Refrigeration in an industrial or commercial setting.

Mechanical and electrical skills (mechanical ability to work to close tolerances).
Troubleshooting skills.
Working knowledge of blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and technical manuals.
Working knowledge of air supply, water supply, and return distribution systems.
Demonstrated knowledge of refrigerator, steam, pneumatics, and piping systems.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to lay out projects from a set of plans, estimate, plan, order, receive, and install per the plan specifications.
