Position Purpose

The Director of Annual Giving strategically plans and implements effective charitable giving solicitations in support of the UCM Annual Fund targeted to alumni, community friends and businesses, UCM suppliers and contractors, parents of current students and alumni, and faculty and staff.

The Annual Giving program is part of the UCM Office of University Advancement and Alumni Foundation, which builds relationships with individuals and organizations, secures and distributes philanthropic support, and promotes volunteerism to help advance UCM.

The Director of Annual Giving:
Personally cultivates and solicits leadership annual gifts.
Promotes UCM donor societies and recognition in the Alumni Foundation Annual Report Honor Roll of Donors.
Recruits, trains, and utilizes volunteers to help cultivate and solicit individuals and businesses for annual gift support.
Plans and conducts telephone campaigns to ask for pledges from alumni and other friends of the University.
Plans, writes, and sends personalized letters, direct-mail appeals, and e-solicitations to target groups of alumni and other friends of UCM.
Creatively utilizes social media and other e-communications to promote giving in support of UCM.
Promotes online giving, and develops inspiring and informative content about the importance of giving on the Alumni Foundation website.
Maximizes local support of the UCM Annual Fund via community fund drive personal gift solicitations. Promotes the Annual Fund via local radio PSAs and other media strategies.
Solicits unrestricted gifts to be used where the needs are greatest at UCM. In addition, enables donors to designate their gifts for their favorite University program, scholarship, etc.
Updates the alumni and donor computer records system with contact reports, gift solicitations/proposals, new contact and career information, etc.

Experience

Required: Five (5) or more years of work experience in full-time position(s) and a demonstrated track record of success.
Preferred: Three (3) or more years of successful experience in development/fundraising, sales, public relations, communications, etc.
