Position Purpose

The position is for a Full time, 9-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Social Work teaching position beginning the Fall Semester, August 2018.

Teach a variety of classes in the fall and spring semester across the undergraduate curriculum in the BSW program at the Warrensburg and Lee’s Summit campuses. Specific courses include Human Behavior Across the Lifespan, Human Behavior Systems, and Social Work Practice and Agency Experience. Social Work elective courses will be assigned as needed. Classes are offered during the day and evening and the candidates must be able to teach four (4) courses per term.

Prepare and update master course syllabi, collaborating with other faculty teaching the same course to identify best practices and evaluate results.

Faculty are expected to use an on line course management system. A minimum of five office hours per week to meet with student about academic professional issues, and grading assignment in a time manner is expected.

The candidate should also be capable of student advisement, research and publication and university service including committee assignments.

The Department of Communication Disorders and Social Work is one of nine academic departments in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies. The Social Work Program offers a BSW degree and is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates from UCM are eligible for licensure at the baccalaureate level in Missouri and in Kansas. Courses leading to completion of the BSW degree are available on the main campus and the Summit Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

- MSW from a CSWE accredited program. Ph.D. preferred.

- Able to teach across the undergraduate generalist curriculum and special topic courses in his/her area of specialization.
